We Moved!

We are finally in our new apartment! It was a crazy time to move with finals and the whole end of the semester thing, but we are here and loving it! We are now in Orem which is closer to the hospital for me, but further away for Ryan. It is huge compared to our last one. The last apartment just felt like one big room. We actually have a "dining" area and (my favorite part) a washer and dryer. It is wonderful. Both of our families came all the way down here to help out. We couldn't have done it without them!! Thank you!! These past few days we have had lots of fun setting everything up and decorating for Christmas. We got our tree up and even a few lights out on our balcony. Now all we need is snow!

Weekend Visit

I have decided to get us caught up on our blogging! A few weeks ago Ryan's parents came to visit. It was fun to have them here. We met them in Temple Square and walked around for a while. It was a beautiful day. We were watching Halle that day while Brenda and Neal were at a wedding, so we took her to the park and played around. She has a ton of energy! That night we took advantage of their swimming pool in their hotel. The next day they were able to come to church with us. We then took a drive up Provo Canyon that afternoon. It was so pretty! All the leaves were changing colors and it was a perfect day. Very relaxing! We are so glad they came to visit.

Our First Campout

Before the end of our summer we decided that we needed to go on a little camp trip. We went to Utah lake near Provo and spent the night. After walking down to the lake we discovered that swimming was not such a wonderful idea with all the moss and decided to just dip our feet in the water. For dinner we had tinfoil dinners using the grill we brought back from Idaho. They were absolutely delicious. We did, however, forget to bring something to turn them with so we ended up making a spatula out of homemade marshmallow stick that someone left behind. It worked great though and they tasted delicious. As we set up our tent we got a little nervous when we noticed the large animal trap that was set about 15 feet from us. Despite the possibilities that raced through our minds we slept great and had a wonderful time.

BYU Cougars!!

We are pretty excited about having school sports to go to here at BYU and decided that we needed to get ready for the upcoming football season. We went shopping at the BYU bookstore and found some awesome cougar shirts. Here we come!!

Seven Peaks!

Reality brought us back to Utah, but we weren't going to let summer get away from us without making a visit to Provo's Seven Peaks waterpark. We had so much fun on the waterslides. The double tube we got let us go down all the tube slides together. Catching air on the tall, steep body slides was fun too after we realized we were going to survive. We had fun on the lilypads and the rope swing. Walking across the lilypads was certainly much harder than it looks, especially if you weigh more than a five year old.

The Boy's Campout

The Eastman's have decided to do an anual campout with all the boys. This year it was near Cave Falls on the edge of Yellowstone. The first day we went canoeing at Horseshoe Lake and played games in the tent. The second day we went on a hike along the river and through the meadows up to the waterfall. It was absolutly gorgeous and was fun to hang out in the dirt.

Katie and Nick

While in Idaho we were also able to see Katie and Nick, our new niece and nephew. Katie was born in April and Nick was born in July. It was great to see them both for the first time. They are truly adorable. It was a great experience to take part in Nick's baby blessing that Sunday.

Jeff's Mission

Jamie's brother Jeff was called to the Argentina Bahia Blanca Mission. He had his "farewell" on August 17th. Afterward we had a dinner at the Dahl's house. Monday we drove to Utah and had a family night at Aunt Karen's house with both sides of the family. It was wonderful to see everyone! Tuesday we went to Salt Lake and did a session in the temple. Following temple square we went to Rodizio Grill, a Brazilian restaurant. Ryan introduced us to chicken heart, a tasty delicacy that he had on his mission. Wednesday morning Jeff entered the MTC. We are very excited for him and know that he will be a great missionary!

Soccer!!!

Our latest excitement was that the Dahl family took us to a Real Salt Lake soccer game. It was held at the UofU stadium, but latter this fall they will start playing at their new stadium in Sandy. RSL beat Columbus 2-0. BYU actually had a chance to play against them this last week in BYU's new soccer stadium by their tennis courts. Unfortunatly we were busy and couldn't go.

Work and School

So we decided that we better let everyone know that we are still happily married. Life seems to be just buzzing right along with Jamie working at the hospital and Ryan staying busy with school. Jamie just completed her first week of nights and decided that working during the day is definatly a better deal. Ryan has three more weeks of class for the summer term and is quite excited to see them go by.

Here We Are

We are finally settled into our new apartment. It took a while, but its finally starting to feel like home! It's a little cozy, but just right for us. We are pretty close to the campus where Ryan will be going to school. He will be starting in a few weeks and is trying to be super excited. Jamie is starting work this week and is not so super excited. It will be good though! We are really liking our ward here. Everyone seems pretty nice and excited about life. They are really some go-getters! Other than that, life is going good! We wish we were still is sunny California soaking up the sun. But those few rays peaking through the clouds here in Utah will have to do for now!
