Outnumbered

Well, for those of you that haven't seen me for a while, the rumors are true. Ryan and I are going to be outnumbered around June 2! That is actually the exact same due date we had for the boys. What are the odds!? It is absolutely crazy to me to think that we will have 3 kids. Everyone keeps telling me that the jump from 2 to 3 is quite a change. Gone will be the days that the "I take one, you take one" strategy will work. I guess we will figure it out! We are very excited though. It's been a bit of a bumpy and hard road to get to this point so we feel very blessed that things are going ok. And yes, it is only one this time. That is the first question I usually get asked.

In January we found out we will soon be mixing some pink into all the blue around our house. We are very excited and I was pretty surprised! Ryan guessed a girl, but I was pretty set on a boy. I just love little boys! But it is going to be so fun to have a little girl too!

I've been nice and sick. I won't go into details, but Ill just say that the boys now grab buckets and will pretend to throw up in them. They have actually become good little helpers and know their jobs when I lose it. My mom has come over a lot. Its been a big help to have her close. Ryan has been amazing! He has done...well everything. Aside from all the other normal annoyances (bathrooms trips, restless legs, feeling huge, exhaustion beyond description) I'm doing well and looking forward to summer.

I don't know if the boys really get it. They know a baby sister is in mom's tummy and will be coming to live at their house when the snow goes away. But as far as what that really means? Who knows. I'm sure they will be great "helpers" though!

January

In January we took the boys to see their first movie in the theater. We saw Frozen. I wasn't too excited to take them, but they actually did surprisingly well (despite the look on Kegan's face)!

And notice the big boy undies! We potty trained them over Christmas break. It was a lot of work, but it is well worth it now!

An elementary school near our house is being torn down and we were able to score these little desks. The boys think they are pretty big sitting in them.

And here is our final product. This table was a lot of work, but oh so worth it. I absolutely love how it turned out. We also have barstools and extra chairs that I didn't take a picture of.

Christmas

Christmas was a lot of fun this year. I loved spending time together on Christmas Eve. In the morning we made cookies for Santa.

Then we spent some time playing in the snow.

These are two cute Josephs at the Eastman party on Christmas Eve.

After the party we headed home and had a special visit from a special Santa (my dad). I don't know how many more years we will be able to get away with this particular one visiting but it was sure cute. I thought they would be scared but they weren't! I love that we have this picture. I have one of me when I was little with my grandpa Dahl wearing this exact same suit.

Christmas morning- I think they were a little overwhelmed trying to take in all that had happened while they were asleep. We put up a gate so they couldn't run out there before us. I don't think they realized why there was a gate up or remembered that Santa was supposed to have left anything. Once they got it, it was fun to see them get so excited. This is them checking out the plate of cookies.

The aftermath

Traditional monkey bread and egg nog for breakfast. They wouldn't even put their cups down for a picture.

On Christmas afternoon we got to Skype John in Bolivia. It was so fun to see him!

December

It was so fun to have the boys understand Christmas a little bit better this year.  This is them pretending to be on Santas sleigh. Notice the reindeer pulling at the front.

We took a trip to temple square and met up with Ryan's sister. It was fun to see the lights even though it was freezing cold and way too crowded.

For Christmas the boys got twin beds. It was bitter sweet and I'll admit I may have gotten a little choked up taking their cribs down. Even though they have been in the toddler bed stage for quite a while, it was sad to see them taken down completely. I made them take one last picture.

They do love these beds though and they look pretty darn cute in them. They especially loved the new cars and trucks bedding.

November

In November we had our first "skiff"snow. The boys were so excited and begged to play outside in it. I finally gave in.

 

Ryan has been getting these kits from Home Depot and Lowes for the boys. They all think it's pretty fun. And they look pretty darn cute doing it.

We began our table project! We bought a new table, chairs and barstools from an unfinished furniture store. It was a big project!

Happy Birthday to me!

Thanksgiving was great. We even braved Toys R Us that night and did well!

This is the boys helping set the tree up. They thought balloons would make good ornaments.

Then we gave them some real (not fragile) ornaments to put on. They all ended up in the same place.
